Artist Biography

A representational painter with an increasingly loose and impressionistic style, Terri Shows has exhibited in watercolor for 20 years.  Other media include pastel, oil, acrylic, and clay.  The artist began her studies with Chuck Long in Huntsville, Alabama.  Other instruction includes portraits and figures with Marcia Leonard and sculpture with Everett Cox.  Workshops with nationally-known instructors provide variety.

Expressing herself fully through rendering people in watercolor, Terri enjoys coordinating the figure drawing group at the Huntsville Art League.  At her open studio/gallery in Lowe Mill Arts and Entertainment Center, visitors are welcome to watch and discuss her process of continuing to develop these images.  Another love is painting landscapes en plein air, both in the Southeast and in her native state of California.  The spiritual connection with her subject is a vital source of peace and renewal for the artist.
